Desmodromic valve actuation is a mechanical principle, not a marketing term. Positive valve closure without springs. Fabio Taglioni introduced it to Ducati in 1956 for one reason: precision at high RPM.
The Monster 937's Testastretta L-twin traces its lineage through every Ducati superbike — 851, 888, 916, 996, 998, 999, 1098, 1198. Racing DNA distilled into a 111 hp street engine.
The 2026 Monster uses IVT. Lighter engine, longer service intervals, broader torque curve. Better in measurable ways. But the Desmo L-twin has a mechanical character the new engine won't replicate. That 315°/405° firing interval, the way it responds to throttle input — it's engineering you can feel.
From $12,995.
